<p>A long time ago, in a galaxy right here, I did a Ph.D. at Penn, studying lots of things (I once knew the country of tradition for the notches in log cabin construction, but that's another story). Mostly studied writers and readers and the worlds they create between them. Now, I'm an arts writer, fiction writer (contemporary fantasy, and epic fantasy as Curt Benjamin). </p><p>Photography is art. Mad for dance--all kinds. It was an amazing weekend of dance—Koresh, Paul Taylor—and PHILADANCO!— but I was out of town and missed them all. (Shakes fist at scheduling gods). Well, that was a weekend. Wrote most of an essay on Saturday, with just break to go to a panel discussion on a new opera I'm going to see in a couple weeks. Sunday, went to the baseball game, stopped for dinner with my nephew on the way home, then finished the essay when I got back. We lost the baseball game but dinner was good and I think the essay is too. The. deadline was tomorrow, and I handed it in tonight, so for good or ill it is done. Will probably run on Wednesday.
