<p>Former, now recovering, chemist. Former genealogist, current Dad, husband and outdoorsman always trying to get my off-grid, Appalachian life in order. </p><p>Homestead life is most of what I talk about these days, and it&#39;s usually restricted to followers only.     I was just outside in the forest planting some trees and I heard a bunch of buzzing long before I saw anything. Instinctively, I looked up, but the swarm was flying just an inch above the ground. There were hundreds of little bees, doing a zig-zag pattern in maybe an 8&amp;#39; x 8&amp;#39; area. After watching them for a minute, I ran inside to grab a cup to try to catch one, because they were moving way too fast, and never landing, so I couldn&amp;#39;t figure out what they were, and I&amp;#39...

    I used to write the occasional post about friends and family and how they weren&amp;#39;t doing so great in the earlier COVID years. I haven&amp;#39;t done that in a while, really just because everyone&amp;#39;s sick all the time, while saying they&amp;#39;re great, and you either realize it or you don&amp;#39;t. But, my wife just came in and told me that her mom has officially been diagnosed with early onset advanced dementia, and I had to go find my old Mastodon account on a different instanc...

    @DaywalkingRedhead@toot.cat This bothers me so much. My wife&amp;#39;s a virtual teacher, and due to the way it works in the state she teaches, she gets a mix of kids, but one of the groups are students who either didn&amp;#39;t, or couldn&amp;#39;t finish a class in school. The last few years she gets so many parents calling her up telling her that their kid &amp;quot;won&amp;#39;t get out of bed&amp;quot; or that they were a great student until recently when they &amp;quot;started refusing t...
