So long and thanks for the kids. It’s been a long time in the coming, but today, we say goodbye to our big red dog Clifford. He lived to a ripe old age of 30 years (all under our stewardship), but he’s going to hospice now, with benefits to Oregon Public Broadcasting. 115,000 miles, 3 babies, beach and surf 🏄 trips, ski ⛷️ adventures, volcano 🌋 traipsing, high and low country 🏕️ , long trips 🚐 and oh so many family outings and building supply deliveries. To be filed under: Life Is Strange Someone posted about the 50th anniversary of Donald Johanson’s discovery of Lucy, and I went on an hour long excursion into the memory vault. I was a first year geology major at podunk college and my then girlfriend and soon to find out at the time, a creationist-leaning Bible thumper, was heading the group that brought lecturers and musicians, etc. to the campus. Remembering those we lost in 2024…RIP Clifford You carried us to mountain tops and across volcanic plateaus…beach/surfing trips…Chili in the back after XC skiing, camping everywhere…but your days came to a close with only 130k hard miles and 3 decades of service. FOP trips and gold panning will never be the same. ⚒️❄️🌋⌛️🚐🪦 #Today #2024

I hope I am still going this strong at 70… Here’s to the long useful life of well built machines. From Delay In Block productions YouTube video published 2 years ago…these engines are mostly headed for the scrap yards now…a few for preservation. If not for emissions standards, how long would they have run? https://youtu.be/N14eTGf4IvQ #Trains

@NorcalGma2 There was a potato shed on the bay side of Table Bluff that we used to get potatoes from. One of the relates was friend of a friend or something. I think they were Kennebeck Potatoes? Not sure where they came from…but remember they weren’t the usual and quite good.

@Nikolas People quit caring about the environment the moment their budget gets tight …which has been the success of BIG Business for decades…we have moved down Maslow’s hierarchy of needs so far that anything longer term than next week is beyond our capacity to care, collectively.
