Ah, good. The old dog, who ate too much and vomited a few pieces back up, has cleaned up the mess before I could get to it. Not surprising, considering the pace at which I'm moving this morning. There are occasional mornings when I stop myself just short of dumping a teaspoon of salt into my tea (and yes, some days when I don't catch it in time). That's a good indicator of how the day will go. Today's 'first' - mug in hand, loaded with water to...

Something that's baffled me about using the Mastodon interface, in various apps/browsers: if there's a post which is just a picture, with no initial comment/text, what TF do I do to see the responses or subsequent comments? Where do I click? Am I blind?

One of those mornings... when every little thing catches my attention. Slimy film on the clear panels of the AirSeal pet door catches my eye, have to clean that NOW - and oh, one of the flexible plastic hinges is beginning to break... [AMAZING company, btw, every single part is easily replaced and can be ordered on their website https://www.idealpetproducts.com/air-seal-pet-door/] ... in the process noticing that the screen on the sink strainer has antique sludge embedded around the rim (it&am...

RE: https://kolektiva.social/@Hex/116574851788219801 Oh YES. Hence the metastasizing load of time and aggravation every ordinary working person must cope with for every post-purchase customer service interaction, every effing day. We're trapped in a cycle of purchasing affordable stuff (cheap crap) to make our busy lives tolerable, and then spending our spare time trying to straighten out the bills, instead of rioting - or even a serious boycott. One problem is, percentage-wise, it see...

Almost 4 weeks into this cold > sinus disaster > cough > hernia? expedition, I'm beginning to fantasize about life after death; I'm imagining a place where I'm comfortably cushioned by thousands of unmatched socks, but things keep poking through the padding. Looking carefully, I realize it's all the missing objects, parts and pieces I lost track of over years of frantically straightening up for the house cleaners, vital bits put away for later in that special spot that...

I feel bad for the guys who keep taking the fake Trump assassination jobs - no trump contact is worth the collectible edition TP it's printed on, but they have to realize the hardest way possible that it's literally a dead-end gig.

Still recovering - way too slowly - from a cold followed by laryngitis and sinusitis, so too much time lying around (and discovering that I can't crossword for shit on cough syrup). Fediverse, look out. Apologies retroactively and in advance for stupid comments...

Sorry, I'm making a nuisance of myself over here. I caught a cold from the grandsons...sick as a dog now (wait, do dogs even GET sinus infections? Maybe I'd be better off as a dog.. ) and have no appetite cuz no sense of smell, stomach's upset (it's pretty empty, and also, drowning in phlegm), falling behind on my water consumption and getting dehydrated, meanwhile my empty stomach is gurgling and bubbling like Yellowstone so I can't even nap well! &...

Earlier this afternoon, Dear Hubby was frantically searching for his training kit bag. I was away last week, and came back to a certain amount of what I call "man-splaying" - miscellaneous crap spread out on every flat surface in sight. Also came back with a terrible cold and a head full of mud. So I had done some vague, unfocused straightening a few days ago, and I had a hazy memory of seeing the bag somewhere it ought not to be, moving it, and thinking I'd found a di...

My husband says he's not worried about online privacy, as it's an illusion already. But I've kept my post settings as "quiet public" since I got here, and I'm basically invisible. I do have some followers, mostly gleaned from my comments on others' posts or from people I found/follow who returned the courtesy (or curiosity); it's still pretty damned quiet. I post: not a ripple, not a drop. The pond is like glass. Maybe it's me. I've toyed with switchin...
