My grandmother once told us she wished she'd had the opportunity to see really tall mountains. So one summer my wife drove her from Virginia to Wyoming to join me at a dinosaur excavation. From there we drove her over the Beartooth Highway (elevation ~11,000 feet) and into Yellowstone National Park. It was her last big road trip before she passed. #MothersDay #roadtrip #mountains

RE: https://mastodon.online/@globalmuseum/116602696813122172 We certainly face this issue at Western Science Center – we don't have enough funds to add more staff or sufficiently increase pay for current staff given inflation rates. Visitation, donations, and revenue have all increased, but the extra revenue is mostly absorbed by increases in utilities and insurance costs. #museum

Southern #California mastodonians, I’m doing a thing! Saturday, May 30, I’ll spend an hour geeking out about mastodons at the Western Science Center in Hemet. Get up close and personal with #fossil mastodons in the WSC collection, learn how to identify mastodons, how to determine a mastodon’s age, and more. $12 per person, maximum of 10 people. #museum #paleontology https://www.westernsciencecenter.org/calendar/2026/5/30/60-minute-science-all-about-mastodons
