  I’m currently travelling through my fourth European country. We visit the capital every time. And we use public transport there. Why don’t we have a single European payment system for public transport? In one country, you have to buy tickets in advance from a machine outside on the platform; in another, you pay on the bus with a payment card; in a third, you have to install an app and top it up with your credit card. It’s a bit of a faff figuring out how to buy a ticket every time. #europe

  I regularly use public transport here on holiday – the bus or the tram. I really can’t stand people who take their bikes on the tram! Especially when they have to get off yelling “Excuse me, excuse me” because of the crowds on the tram. It’s for people, not bikes! #publictransport

  The Dalai Lama said once: happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions. I disagree. Happiness depends on many external factors. Where you were born is an important one. Are you healthy and financially secure. You cannot simply turn all these things that you have no control over into feelings of happiness with a few actions. That takes a lot of energy. On the other hand, someone who does enjoy all these preconditions does not have to do anything and can be happy. #happy

  @lexinova@cyberplace.social I explained to that person that the Nazis were very effective here in the Netherlands in tracking down Jews because they were registered as such in the population register. All they had to do was go to the town hall, look up their place of residence, and then they could transport the Jews to their deadly final destination. But even that did not convince that person.
