Game Reveals kind of suck now .. (and they kind of always have)
Every year I try to get my self excited about watching the gaming summer shows , what use to be E3. This year honestly I just couldn’t. I tried watching a few minutes of both the Sony and Summer Games fest and felt bored. I’m sure a lot of these games these they show will be great. But the way the present most of them honestly doesn’t engage me in the slightest. Sometimes you get a cinematic trailer that shows no gameplay sometimes (mostimes) you get just gameplay with no context. I feel lik...

Am I crazy not to trust Chinese developed games ?
There is no question over the last 10 years the quality and production level of Chinese developed games has seem to sky rocket. Many of these games even being free to play. But honestly I haven’t played a single one. For the same reasons I refused to download TikTok. China is a well known surveillance state. I worry downloading and playing these games especially on a PC or mobile phone would just be a huge privacy risk. Am I being to paranoid ? Are there some regulations I’m not aware of tha...

Premium Privacy Services: are they really that private ?
I’m going to do my best to word this question carefully. I’m not privacy expert and maybe no more than an idiot. I do want to protect myself online. Which led me to privacy focused cloud based premium solutions. The idea is you can pay for a service so they don’t need to serve ads and scan your data for profit. Services like Kagi , Proton among others offer services for a fee. These services let you pay with a credit card . My question is , are these services really that private if they have...

Celebrity death that’s affected you the most ?
For me it was Cheater Bennington. Linkin Park music helped me through some hard times and I know some of the more impactful lyrics came from him and what he experienced. Knowing he couldn’t take it anymore definitely hit Me hard particularly as someone I looked up to from young age … Who was yours ?

There is no technical reason a man can’t wear a skirt. The society you live in may “frown” upon it. But that’s a different issue to address entirely

Have you ever converted another “normie” to use a federated social media platform ?
When I say normie I mean someone who doesn’t care about self-hosting doesn’t really care that much about privacy and you wouldn’t consider deep tech hobbyist. If you did , how did you do it ? Did they stay ? Or if someone did convert you , how did they do it ?

Don’t know if it’s so much an issue with detecting what’s what. I think this just wildely opens the door to knowing who people are and being able to easily take even more data. All the while opening new opportunities to sell the tech to institutions that pull the data they want. It’s not longer capitalism it’s griftalism

As the saying goes if it seems to be good to be true it is. But I wanted to be hopeful maybe just once more that maybe something could be great. Encrypted email with an unlimited sized inbox ?!!? Yes please !!! Welp sadly it seems it’s once again to good to be true. I made an account just to see how it was. I was immediately greeted with link to buy their premium for a year, using my initial email I selected. When I finally figured out how to say no I was able to use my “backup option” for f...

In order to curb dissatisfaction the Discord CTO released a blog post. In it a lot of c-suite speak and empty words. They claim 90 percent of users won’t be affected. And with caveats I believe them. Most people’s experience probably won’t change. And they will carry on with their spied on lives. Where I get upset is this claim that these age verification steps won’t at all infringe on privacy or identity. That Discord won’t read messages and won’t track things. I know this is a flat out lie....

For some of us sadly proton and Linux still isn’t a viable option for daily gaming on PC. While that means you’re stuck on Windows it doesn’t mean your experience truly has to suck. I went down the rabbit hole of Windows Debloating and to me the most viable option was Atlas OS. Not technically a new OS but rather an (overall) easy to use tool that will automatically remove and disable windows worst features. This is my honest opinion on it after using for 3 months ! Installation honestly wa...

I hear it’s the first browser in a long while to come with a new engine. Completely independent and no revenue model. To me that would work well for privacy but I see no mention of privacy as any benefit. In fact I don’t see a privacy policy anywhere ! Is a goal of the browser to be telemetry free ? Should I as a person who cares about privacy be showing any interest?

There is no truer adage to me than nothings is perfect. And when it comes to anything related to Discord it’s no different. Discord itself to me has been an issue for years. Its use of data collection, the obsession of companies trying to buy it all were concerning. For me the latest age verification just further reinforces my beliefs. That being said the majority of users who ignored all this and kept going, really nothing would change. Most people I know use Discord lightly and aren’t in lar...
