@tinmouth@infosec.exchange i quite like the idea of another truenas so ZFS snapshots can be preserved… but to be honest what I really need to is just to have the data secure if the main box becomes unavailable in some catastrophic manner. I had planned to self host a mail server but that ended up on mythic beasts so a daily backup is no longer a requirement. My temporary pool of old 2TB disks connected to truenas on an old laptop via an annoying usb dock is just about ok but is nearly at capacity. Dammit everything’s crazy expensive at the moment isn’t it.
