@gcvsa@mstdn.plus I'm thinking bad started with farming for money, which is a kind of mining, and that we're in for a world of hurt. I don't say so very often, because of course no one (not even me) will ever be ready to hear it. Cassandra syndrome. Best to just regard me as bonkers.

@shonin@c.im I get what you are saying, but I have to point out that raw numbers don't tell us much about what the actual carrying capacity of the planet really is. I very much agree that we eat too many animals, and that we can live comfortably with less. But, the waste that is built into current systems can also be eliminated to a large extent. We waste 40% of all food we grow, and that includes all inputs into the transport system.
