What if one of the most powerful climate solutions isn’t technology—but conversation? 💇‍♀️ Good news: Hairdressers may be some of the most effective climate communicators we’ve been overlooking. A U.K. study shows that when salons spark climate conversations, nearly 73% of clients say they’d adopt more eco-friendly habits. ⚠️ Not so good news: War doesn’t only devastate lives - it also drives massive emissions. A Climate and Community Institute analysis shows the first two weeks of the Iran conflict alone released about 5 million tonnes of carbon pollution. Rebuilding the damage will add even more. 🌱 What you can do: While negative news spreads faster, it’s positive, actionable stories that actually motivate us to act. Follow at least one source that shares climate solutions this week and share what you learn, on or offline. https://www.talkingclimate.ca/p/this-everyday-job-can-activate-climate

@kathhayhoe Thanks so much for sharing such a wonderful strategy . This would work effectively if the hairdressers in my community are informed and influenced to take such an action towards environmental activism. I have been doing my best with my team to plant as many trees as possible in schools, churches and trees with much hope that we're doing great for our environment and the future generation. We always aim at of planting atleast 70 trees p month and on every members birthday party

  • @kathhayhoe Hah. I once visited a *very good* hair stylist who told me "well, global warming is only a theory". Spent the rest of the visit trying to combat the worst misconceptions. Never went back afterwards.

@kathhayhoe Replying to your email ... as an example of a positive news site, perhaps try https://fixthenews.com/ ? They publish a strong selection of uplifting climate related news nearly every week, and actively support small charities in the sector as well.
