A Dutch Resistance fighter who went by the nom de guerre “Hannie.” In 1938 she enrolled at the University of Amsterdam to pursue law with a goal of becoming a human rights lawyer. After the German occupation of the Netherlands, Schaft became active opposing the Nazis and protecting Dutch Jews. She stole identity papers so Jews could avoid deportation; actions that brought her to the attention of the Council of the Resistance, who recruited her at age 20. She was asked to be a courier but Schaft refused - she wanted to kill Nazis. (2/6) #WW2 #Resistance #antifa #Netherlands https://allthatsinteresting.com/hannie-schaft
