Continuing the morning with an, "I'm not upset, I'm deeply disappointed" in a professional email. It really does seem some companies providing services to authors somehow don't get how damaging the perception of "AI" contamination is. If your company looks like it's going slopward, customers will jump ship if at all possible. The reputational damage might not immediately breach the wider trust thermocline (thank you, @garius@mastodon.me.uk, for that concept) but it gets closer and closer with each instance.

  • And I repeat: Even the *perception* that a company is flirting with "AI" can cause immense reputational damage. While the damage might not show immediately, the instant the bubble pops, customers will absolutely remember. And leave, the moment they can.
