--I looked up an Amazon drone pic and it looks pretty close to what I saw this morning, so I think I can safely conclude that's what it was.
--Possible "innocent" explanation: The drone was misrouted to the wrong house, paused & corrected its trajectory (or returned to base to be rerouted).

So, the "good" news is that it sounds like it *was* an Amazon drone. The *bad* news is that this still means there are large drones buzzing all over suburbia with the ability to hover outside your bedroom window & spy on you (or at the very least freak you out).
