A strong brief is short enough to process quickly but detailed enough to prevent poor matches. Include the target page, subject, audience, desired geographic focus, acceptable industries, prohibited categories, and any required disclosures or brand rules. (12/38)

Avoid writing the brief as an advertisement. Publishers generally need an informative angle, not a sales paragraph. Instead of asking for an article that praises a software company, request an educational piece such as “How small teams can organize recurring customer support tasks.” The target page can then be referenced where it genuinely expands on the subject.
