Shaft engaged in sabotage (including blowing up a power station), transported weapons, & conducted assassinations. She, along with sisters Truus & Freddie Oversteegen, became a 3 woman assassination team. Schaft killed German soldiers, Dutch Nazis, collaborators & traitors. She became fluent in German, allowing her to tempt German soldiers as a honeypot. She was wanted by the Nazis, but known only as ‘the girl with red hair’. (3/6)

Schaft was arrested at a Nazi checkpoint on March 25, 1945. Though she had dyed her hair to conceal her identity as the girl with red hair, her red roots gave away her identity. She was executed 3 weeks prior to the end of the war, on April 17, 1945. She was 24 years old.
