  @zak@infosec.exchange first thing I did when I bought new TVs was to get in to the service menu and disable wifi and BT radios. I then attempted to join a wifi network, but scan results had no networks. This,as well as not accepting EULAs, and HDMI input is how I use these monitors. The service menus allow deeper settings access to actually disable this bullshit. We have all known these stupid shenanigans have been there, just nice to see proof on ""mainstream"" reporting for once. Between ai datacenter hate, flock/axon hate, and now in home surveillance hate... I really hope we see some sort of change... But I know we won't. :( it's still going to require physical hardware hacking to be sure. I got a free nest mini a long time ago, and it had a physical mic mute switch, but still responded to wake words. I located 3 MEMS in the hardware and cut the traces. Even then, tapping the device still caused the LEDs to pulse/flash so maybe the speaker is used as a mic in some way too? Either way, my retirement plan is to fuck off the grid and live in the wilderness at this point.
