That's also true of dark energy.
Heck, there could be an entire dark sector awaiting discovery and annexation into the Standard Model someday.
That supposed dark sector might even be more complicated than anything so far discovered - or, you know, it might not exist at all.

Then again, supposing dark matter & dark energy both do consist of particles, and someday we discover all of them - *then* are we done? Maybe not. We're not certain that the inflation field exists, but if it does, its associated quantum - the inflaton - may await discovery. 6/
