When you read a promise saying "AI will do blah blah in blah years," just change it to its negative version and see if that seems more likely. "AI will create cures for cancer in two or three years." Now add "not" and see if the believability rating goes up: "AI will not create cures for cancer in two or three years." You're welcome. 😇 Works for anything coming out of Trump's mouth too.

  • @bkahn@beige.party We literally have cures for cancer right now. Not all of them, but making progress. There was a time, not so long ago when all cancers were terminal

    @bkahn@beige.party These statements always remind me of how, about 20-25 years ago, the National Cancer Institute said all cancer will be cured in 10 years. They had all the necessary data and just needed to work through it. We have made great strides between then and now, but I remember not believing it then. Not believing it now.
