Several of the old books I've rescued are not in great shape. Which is why I am able to get them cheap.
Just read (and downloaded) the Dartmouth library book restoration guide and bought a starter set of tools and supplies for repairing books. Nothing fancy right now - no rebinding or anything that advanced. Going to fix some tears and some loose covers and see how that goes

There's a lot of good videos on youtube about that, although yes most focus on rebinding.
