I saw a post about post-scarcity in Star Trek and what it means in terms of just giving stuff away, and it's a very fun thing to talk about. A lot of society is already set up to give things away. For example, plumbing and roads. It's conceptually pretty trivial to expand that to more or less any staple. What's really interesting to me is giving away art. I think what differentiates fictional utopias is how they handle this question.
