About soil blocking. Advertisement images show only nice clean soil blocks. In reality, those who soil block, how long you are able to keep the soil blocks close to original form? I have made these micro sized soil blocks for couple of years now and eventually transferred seedlings to pots. Even these micro sized soil blocks tend to spread in width (maybe I water in wrong way). Now I am trying larger soil blocks, but wonder if I am able to transfer plants directly soil as in these latitudes it might take two more months still.

@karakteristika I have not quite figured it out yet. But how well it stays together for me definitely depends on my mix.

@karakteristika we mostly use the 2 in blocks. They hold together pretty well. The small blocks fall apart if the seeds take very long to come up. And the big 4 in blocks take a lot of mix to fill so for seeds that outgrow the 2 in blocks, we transplant to half gallon pots. The soil blocks work well at that in between size. For us anyway.
