When my partner's sister was in college, she had a roommate who was a princess in some minor European nobility. The princess part doesn't really matter -- she was very nice -- except for the implied life of privilege. One day, the princess was going to the grocery store and asked if anyone needed anything. "Potatoes please!". When the princess returned, she said "I'm very sorry, but the potatoes were all dirty". I think of her every year while harvesting ... #...

Rain sent us in from the pasture pets. We're about to spend a week in the mountains and they'll go home from summer camp before we return. I'll miss them when we come back and they're gone... #Colorado #asstodon #goats

RE: https://mstdn.social/@coloradosun/116958568947911922 I would love to see real rail on the Front Range. I've already been paying for one for a couple decades. I'm having real trouble imagining anything ever working with RTD involvement. That's the problem with having a track record... My answers: it won't, too much, and never. Which makes me sad. I'll probably vote for it anyway cause how I can vote against rail? #Colorado #rail

Something folks might want to know about ... And the give away that it's a done deal by another of Polis's "regulators" is: “We will make sure people have the chance to share their thoughts to ensure we take their concerns into account while drafting strong, legally enforceable permits that protect the air we all breathe,” said ACPD director Michael Ogletree. While we issue permits, not while we consider if we should issue permits https://www.cpr.org/2026/07/08/qts-aurora-da...

#uspol I find the silence on Planter from accounts that were previously telling me I had to support him or I was personally responsible for trumpism continuing interesting ... At least Bernie finally got around to calling for him to drop out.

Morning breakfast pick. First time I've been able to do that this season! The apple was buried in the mulch covering the potatoes -- somebody must have put it there. A squirrel? A raccoon? Johnny Appleseed? #gardening #Colorado

@SunnJax@tech.lgbt mostly on a news fast for another week, but I did read a list of current wildfires burning in Colorado. No good, no good, not good at all ...

Golden-naped Woodpecker. This one's a male -- I didn't get a good photo of the red spot on his head but he did have it. #CostaRica #birds #esquipulas

Snow, snow, snow! After a 4am greenhouse rescue when we lost power, we went back to sleep and then just shook snow off all the bushes and trees. Hard to measure, but at least 9 inches of snow in the undisturbed places. And now for the big melt! #Colorado #snowInMay

Great concert last night with the Colorado Symphony. Michelle Cann bringing down the house with her performance of Florence Price's Piano Concerto in One Movement. Really great.
