One of the inventions that truly blows me away and that we all take for granted is fabric.
Ages ago, people decided to weave strings to create soft surfaces that you could use as clothes, mats and more, and I just can't comprehend how someone had this idea, not just once, but in many parts of the world independently from each other.
(okay, now I want to go down the rabbit hole that is the history of fabric, but I don't have the time right now!)

@David @sister_ratched I would imagine that you would need to start with furs, then basic tanning and preserving, then discover that some furs have wool you can use to make threads and cords, then you also discover threads from plants… I wonder if felting came before weaving threads? Possibly depending on where you were and what options you had
