Ok, I have a #Repair question for those of you #DIYRepair / #DIYFix people. I have a relatively old (or maybe I should say medium age?) freezer/refrigerator — a General Electric GSS20IEPA. The coils frost over and I need to defrost way too often.
But I think I just figured out the bigger part of the problem: it has an automatic defroster and I don't believe it's working. I've never once ever caught it on. The problem is I'm not sure how to diagnose it. The wires are good, but how do I even know what else to check? There are no obvious signs like burn marks on the heater. I suppose I have to figure out where they hid a relay for it?
The biggest problem is I don't even know what is supposed to make it trigger on to actually even know when to test for power/etc.
