@deadDuck@zeroes.ca I wonder if it will be like EVs, where early adopters have been driving hybrid or electric vehicles for decades, and they're really just taking off now with the price of gas At least in North America, EVs haven't really been around for decades. The first Nissan Leaf launched in 2010 or so. The new ones are not really "taking off" so much as "growing steadily". Likely because of more infra to support charging and the influx of well known brands like Ford or VW or Kia. Along with more widespread charging networks. But cars don't get replaced all that often, especially new cars. Only 15% of new cars sold in Canada last year were EVs or PHEV. Most of the cars on the road have lots of years left in them and majority of new auto sales are still burning fuel. I see electrical backup systems as much further down the line. Most people are carrying a lot of debt. They're going to upgrade to EVs before they upgrade to electrical backups.
