Something I can't stand when I share things I've written is that I have friends and family who try to read between the lines and assume there's some personal desire to the story.
I have a story where the protagonist is a pilot and they'll say something like "Oh I didn't know you're into planes! Why don't you try flight school if you're interested in them?"

This makes me greatly hesitant to publicly share anything I write lol. Edit: I feel compelled to elaborate a little more: I realize you can speculate on author's intent but I don't think every plot/character has a personal want hidden within. I've written short stories simply because it seemed fun or a challenge to write. Its tiring to have people view it under a microscope and try to prod to see if there's actually something there or not.
