Due to the new government in Syria and changes in US law, the Fedora community was able to restore access to the project to Syrians! This includes not just downloading Fedora Linux, but also all aspects of participating in the project itself.

@fedora@fosstodon.org What are you doing to ensure this doesn't happen in future? I understand that the US-based Fedora organization will follow US laws, but giving the US government the power to cut people off of free software is a problem. How are you going to ensure that your US organization is unable to shut off access to Fedora?

@fedora@fosstodon.org is possible you open a second branch outside the US in a country unburdened by US laws so as you stay able to provide service to everyone regardless of US law?
