In what world does it literally take 10 days to remove someone from an email subscription list *they didn't sign up for*

@autonomousapps@mstdn.social Outgoing emails are sat in a queue somewhere if delivery fails, redelivery is attempted for up to 10 days before considering it a permanent failure, and the queue system does not sync with the subscription system before every delivery attempt.
