We are currently on holiday in #Cavan at the moment but I wanted to share these photos with you all. We went on a guided tour of #Newgrange, Co.Meath* today. We were allowed into see the inner chamber. We stood inside a Neolithic Chamber that was built 5,200 years ago, which makes it older than Stonehenge and the Pyramids of Giza. There are no words to explain how that feels - we are merely a dot on the timeline of this earth! *for Mark 😉 #Newgrange #tomb #Ireland #Neolithic #Cavan

@jacqui76@mastodon.ie I had similar experience of being a tiny dot on the timeline when I went to the caves at Pech Merle in southern France. They have cave paintings there which are 25000 years old. Well worth a visit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pech_Merle?wprov=sfla1

@jacqui76@mastodon.ie as a Meathman I must object in the strongest terms to your inclusion of a Cavan-related hashtag in a toot about a purely Meath venue. Whilst my ancestors were civilised and capable of such feats of engineering, those Cavan mucksavages likely couldn’t see past the end of whatever sheep they were bothering (and probably trying to charge it for the privilege, given how tight they are)
