Sometimes I regret pieces like the one I wrote last night because this space is full of people who think they’re being helpful by pointing out that it’s my fault for expecting a service to work correctly or as marketed.

@nickheer I’m right there with you. About 500GB of photos and videos in Photos library, spanning decades. Have to Trust In iCloud and keep paying for the 2TB One plan because as soon as I stop paying that, photos will disappear. Yes, I could set up a SAN or something to copy them locally, but that would be offline storage that requires a lifestyle and investment to keep that going too. (Yes, I have a backup on an external drive thanks to Parachute)

@nickheer FWIW, after reading it, I spent a few hours cleaning up my photos last night and putting the important ones on a backup drive. iCloud/iTunes has lost more than a few files for me over the years.
