In disc phyllotaxis, like Fibonacci256, lighting every N LEDs from the center produces a pattern. If N is from the Fibonacci sequence a spiral (or mesh of spirals) is produced because the divergence (angle of succession in a single spiral arrangement) approaches the golden ratio.

If you increment N in small fractional steps instead of integers, you get a smooth transition between the spiral patterns. https://lectronz.com/products/fibonacci256-hdr-166mm
