I have more to write about this, but I think the FOSS world urgently needs to come to grips with the fact that "Sovereignty" and "Liability" are the same thing. Accountability before the state and accountability to the laws of the state are the same thing, If devs can be held responsible for their code, what difference does it make at the implementation level if the injured party is the individual or the state? "Free as in no warranty express or implied" might not be a viable option soon.

@mhoye And the more that software is important in the world, the more people want someone to be responsible when it goes wrong. Worse, who is held responsible is a political decision and the FOSS world is bad at politics. I feel we collectively narrowly (mostly) ducked a bullet in the EU CRA, and probably worse is coming sooner or later.
