Drove south today for vacation - 7h, 700km.
Even with the gas prices, it cost me ~120€ with unlimited* luggage, no in between stops and no external nuisances.
Most train tickets are more expensive than that and you get all the joy like delays, overcrowding, closed food service etc.
With the current state of German Railways, gas would need to be like 4€/l to make train the better option

@streifi@social.streifigreif.de advantage of train: *you* don't have to drive, to concentrate, and you can take a nap or read a book while traveling. :3 for me that's worth the extra money.
