Achievement unlocked: I have gained a line of credit at the local DIY store. They're too small to stock the 3" by 6" joists I wanted, and the only other thing I needed to pick up was a chain for the bathroom sink plug; that's £1, too small for a card payment and I didn't have any change on me. "Drop the cash in next time you're passing" said the bloke behind the counter.
