@slimhazard@mastodon.world @pluralistic@mamot.fr I'm all for the concept, but I feel the name is an unnecessary negative association. Yes, sewers are great and we should all want them to work, but also they remind people of shit. Most people who hear “sewer socialism” are going to need a whole lot of context to understand that it's supposed to be a good thing.

    @isaacfreeman@cloudisland.nz @pluralistic@mamot.fr I see what you mean. If the term has been in use for a while, it might not be easy to change. “Gutter socialism“? I thought about “street socialism“, which might connote some of the right ideas about meeting day-to-day needs. But I suspect that it sounds too gangsta and would play into the canard that socialists are thugs.
