#TOcouncil thread: BUDGET DAY! 🧵 Today City Council does The Budget. The cost of COVID has left the City with huge holes in the budget that will be a challenge to fill. But the austerity budget is overshadowed by the revelation of the mayor's inappropriate relationship with a staffer and his promised (and, by some councillors, protested) resignation. This…complicates…the new "strong mayor" powers bequeathed by the Province that give the rest of Council limited ability to change the budget. Today will be a spicy one.
