@jmcastagnetto Great article. I just want to point out one thing from a paragraph talking about Hacker News comments: "Defenders argued regex is faster and cheaper than an inference call. They’re right. But that’s the engineering culture talking." That's not the engineering culture talking, that's the HN/ycombinator techbro culture talking.

@jmcastagnetto I've worked in tech for ... a few decades now. I've never seen a really awesome codebase, this all seemse pretty bad, but... in exactly the direction I expect from startups

@jmcastagnetto Actually, they are absolutely right :AngeryCat: to ship the crap their agents produce without much supervision. This gives them a taste of their own medicine and and puts a pressure to improve the whole thing. They're getting to feel what would their customers feel when they ship half-baked garbage to their suffering users. If they were to uphold high engineering culture and do the reviews and stuff, their customers still would skip everything, cut every corner, and ship garbage without even having an option to improve on that. If they somehow get a way of making their agents ship software sensibly then that wave will raise the quality waterline for everyone.
