Oops. Another black eye for the microplastics-are-everywhere crowd: turns out standard latex and nitrile lab gloves shed stearates that show up as plastics on all but the most sensitive of tests. And this follows on from revelations that studies purporting to show microplastics found everywhere from the brain to the testes didn't calibrate their setups using standard reference materials, so we have no idea if the signal they picked up is actually true or false detection of plastic material.
