Finally finished Veilguard. It was... an experience. My feelings oscillated wildly throughout my playthrough. First, there was disgust. This was not the DA4 I wanted. The characters annoyed me, the lack of choice alienated me from my character, and the pretty visuals and smooth combat did little to assuage that. This lasted maybe 1/3 of my playthrough, culminating in the most anticlimactic mission I've ever played in a Bioware game. (continued) #games #gaming #dragonage

Then there was... forgiveness. The main missions which followed the hilariously lackluster Minrathous defense mission were actually great. I recruited companions who *didn't* annoy the shit out of me. (Taash - the nonbinary Qunari - in particular is my favorite character by far.) Yes, Veilguard *is* a terrible conclusion to the series. But if you can forgive it for that, you can find some good in it, and the bones of something great. I'd say this lasted a fifth of my playthrough. (continued)

@fkftsh@fkft.sh I enjoyed Veilguard well enough, but I don't' quite understand a lot of the choices. Like... it's a change in direction enough to alienate a lot of the old fan base, while not changing into anything that might appeal to a NEW fan base. And I ABSOLUTELY agree It's nice to have a lot of the mysteries be known now. I'd like to get another DA game out of Bioware/EA... but I'm afraid it's unlikely, isn't it???
