I find myself on the market for a new phone. I also find myself at point where I can #deGoogle at an increased speed. My #AskFedi question, importantly, with this caveat: I&#39;m NOT a programmer and have no affinity with &#39;computer touching&#39; outside my digital sovereignty. If I want to go #FairPhone 6 with #Murene ICM with an acct with #ProtonMail , which frequently used apps might I run into trouble with? Any warnings for a tech noob? (I&#39;ve already read Dutch banking apps work well)

@erikcats@dice.camp Im on a Fairphone 4 running /e/OS lemme know if you'd like me to test an app or two for you. In general ive had a lot of success with it.

@erikcats banking apps and authenticators are going to be the two I can think of. I know @justincrozer has done a lot of deGoogling. I think he'd planned some posts but I've not kept up recently.

@erikcats Switched from iPhone to Fairphone 6 with /e/OS this winter. 10/10 would do it again. Some trouble with Norwegian money transfer app #vipps but not a deal breaker. Since the whole family has been all in on iCloud everything I'm still disentangling from stuff like shared photo albums, iMessage and Find My..., but that's not the Fairphone's fault. @erikcats sounds like a great plan. I have FP5 with /e/OS and Tuta (and Proton too) since May '25. It all works without any issues and the feeling of being free and supporting a European digital ecosystem is intoxicating. I love it. Go for it!
