No surprise that many "self-driving" cars are operated by human drivers. Safety, efficiency, even convenience were never the point. It's just for investors. If they wanted all of these, they would have promoted the infrastructure, networking, and handover techniques that were worked out mostly between 1935 and 1995 but would have benefited immensely from networking of the 1990s to the present. Instead they used the objectives of the DARPA derby - which was not only late to the game but literally on the wrong track. Self-driving cars - as they exist now - are the epitome of enshittification.
