@Colman@mastodon.ie Agree completely. I guess the other question is whether her ascendency to power was predicated on the fact that after thirty years of social democracy and increasing economic mobility and equality the old capitalist class had reached a point where their very existence depended on halting and unwinding the post-war economic consensus. That capital class had never been so (relatively) poor as they were in the 1970s and another decade might have seen their end. @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us @riggbeck@mastodon.social

@ReggieHere@mastodon.social @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us @riggbeck@mastodon.social that’s an element of it. Reagan was about white America keeping all the stuff. Maggie weaponised those tools against the British working class.

@ReggieHere@mastodon.social @Colman@mastodon.ie @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us @riggbeck@mastodon.social @cstross@wandering.shop There need to be learnings here; things which can be woven into constitution one day. What worked, then didn’t? What broke, and how can it be stronger next time? We need to win this war, everywhere.
