I keep going back and forth about whether I prefer Rage with the original textures or with the "detail texture" feature. It certainly looks sharper but there's always a little voice in the back of my head reminding me that it's not "real" detail. It's just a combination of upscale, sharpening and noise. Megatextures had too many problems to stick around, I know, but those are some hella good NPC textures for 2011.
