I have been rereading a book I first read in my youth, (and allowing it's by R Heinlein and so is filled with some right wing views) it did strike me when I read this damming of the popularist nonsense about "too many experts", "common sense" and the like! "I remembered a time when my grandmother had asked me to explain television to her—the guts, not the funny pictures. There are things which cannot be taught in ten easy lessons, nor popularized for the masses; they take years of skull sweat.
