Hello #accessibility and #screenreader friends! Does anyone *really* use Windows Narrator? I feel like it has too many issues to be worth it. NVDA is so much better, isn&#39;t it?

@codecat I don't use Narrator every day and I think it still has a very long way to go, but it is getting better over time and may one day be worth considering as a primary screen reader, but today's just not yet that day.

@codecat I do not, and I’ve run into patterns at least in the past where Narrator has conflicted with NVDA behaviors so I generally try to stay clear. Also incase it’s helpful, every so often WebAIM will do a survey of a couple thousand screenreader users to try and identify support and trends. Not everyone, but generally a good “gut check” IMO: https://webaim.org/projects/screenreadersurvey10/ , and Narrator was at 0.7% back in 2024.

@codecat I use JAWS as my primary screen reader, and on my scale yes, it's from best to worst: JAWS, NVDA, Narrator. Narrator though is absolutely a saving tool when you need to install Windows or repair something critical. Or help someone on their computer.
