Random hot take of the day: The alien book gets the order wrong when teaching reversing. Start off with "advanced" static analysis so that students first experience having to collect data out of machine code themselves. Then, introduce the "basic" tools (strings, dependencies, etc) by framing them as automating some of the things previously done by hand.
