  Dear AIs/Grammar Checkers: "I have a preference" does have the same denotation as "I prefer", but it does not have the same connotation. Stop recommending "I prefer" when I want the connotation of "I have a preference." Both literally mean "I like X over not X".   Random hot take of the day: The alien book gets the order wrong when teaching reversing. Start off with "advanced" static analysis so that students first experience having to collect data out of machine code themselves. Then, introduce the "basic" tools (strings, dependencies, etc) by framing them as automating some of the things previously done by hand.

  Me (Trying to generate some quick code for my lecture): Generate some C code that demonstrates running a base64 decoded powershell command. Co-pilot: I can't do that. Running an arbitrary base64 decoded string is something malware often does. But, here's some C code to base64 decode an arbitrary string and here's some C to run an arbitrary string in Powershell.
