We generally want systems that require more than on person to royally mess up before anything bad could actually happen barring events outside of our control. Deploying a code change to a network service, for example. Now you’re telling me that the future of our industry are autonomous computer programs with no accountability or ability to think, reason, or care of the liability of the company operating it can rewrite and deploy thousands of SLOC changes to such services? And when it blows up in their faces the business decides that a human has to be responsible for this mess. Not the executives or managers who insisted on it. But the labourer. The programmer has to read hundreds, maybe thousands, of lines of code per hour and prevent errors from reaching production systems or they can be fired. That’s the future? This sounds like a good thing?
