@apodoxus Alpha Direct is a brand name of a type of micro fleece that's mesh-like to make small pockets of air to trap warmth. I bought midlayer mitts of a material that's similar (different brand, OMM if you're curious), and they are stupidly light and packable and so warm. Haven't used them yet, but its supposed to be quite warm when wet relative to other fabrics. I've used woven mesh base layers for a while and have been wanting to switch out my midlayers to something like this too.
