Doing market research for a general purpose code editor for my new gnome desktop
1. Obvious choice is VSCode which I already use at work, but I'd rather keep my home box as MS-free as possible.
2. Zed is an alternative, but it gives off AI-VC vibes (I know there's a stripped VSCodium-like version)

3. i know vim quite well and I'd rather not overwrite muscle memory (so discarding helix and emacs for now) 4. Geany is the official IDE for my desktop, seems pretty full-featured but the git integration is not very good. Would it make sense to try Kate on gnome?
